Dave S-B is a mastering engineer working out of his custom-crafted mastering suite in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, UK. His musicality, and dedication to highlighting the artistic expression of your sound, will lift your mixes to their highest potential to create emotionally engaging releases for your listeners.
Dave S-B started his musical journey as a small child, both performing and composing music throughout his life. In the early 1990s, Dave was one of the first students in the world to graduate with a BA(Hons) in Popular Music and Recording (from the University College of Salford), with patronage from Sir George Martin and Peter Gabriel. Those were the days of analog everything and editing with a razor blade – fun, but thankfully long gone! The musical world has changed massively since then, but with Dave’s ongoing commitment to current technologies and standards you can be sure that your finished master will sound great, no matter the format or platform you’re delivering through.
Communication is key, and Dave will always take the time to work with you to help get your mixes in the best place for the mastering process, both technically and artistically. Having the input of an independent professional is an invaluable tool to get the best from your music, no matter what level you are working at.

I’ve worked with Dave on numerous music projects over the years in regard to both mastering and recording, and on every occasion I have been extremely satisfied with the results. My main instrument is the no-input mixing board which is notoriously difficult to record and master due to its volatile extremities of shifting frequencies, both high and low, and yet throughout every session Dave has been super attentive to the intricacies of capturing this most elusive palette of electronic noise, however complicated the set-up and most often (I’m sure) at the expense of his own sanity…and indeed, hearing! For me, that is the essence of dedication and I hope to continue working with this master of sonic engineering for many years to come.

Although I`ve been into audio and mixing/mastering for a while I came across Dave on one of those audio social media groups. Since then Dave has been my mentor, improving tremendously the way I mix and how I understand the whole process thanks to his expertise and the way he can share it. Having knowledge and experience is one thing, but Dave has an amazing ability to share it with students. He explains everything in detail in a very informative and effective way making the whole learning process a breeze. I must honestly say that thanks to his mentoring, first of all I`ve learned a lot, Dave taught me a lot of new things which were truly a game changer when it comes to my mixing. Thanks to his mentoring I tremendously improved my mixing skills and more importantly got a lot of confidence in what I`m doing… And all that in very professional, effective and nice atmosphere. Dave did a fantastic job when we went to record with him in early January, 2022. He was was friendly, professional and has a real feel for what he does. With his excellent organisational skills, we were able to record quite a few songs on the day with ease. However, it is Dave’s unique way of working that really helped us to put that something extra into the music. Would highly recommend to all bands & artists looking to record- whether they’re an unsigned band recording their first EP, or an established band looking to work with someone different who can get the best out of their sound!

Dave mastered my last album and did a fantastic job with it. He was incredibly helpful and even helped fix any of my mixing issues (due to my room).
